Setting Flame Retardant Material on Fire
May 6, 2025
We’re always printing with flame retardant UL 94 V-0 materials for our customers, so naturally we were curious to see what would happen if we tried to set one on fire with a blowtorch.
First, we set fire to a standard ABS. Next, we used a flame retardant ABS from our friends at COEX 3D.
As you’ll notice in the video, the standard ABS burned aggressively while the FR ABS charred slightly but stopped as soon as the flame was removed. The material has additives that suppress ignition and help the material self-extinguish.
At Incept 3D, we aren’t limited to only the materials we feature on our website. There’s a huge array of options out there, and we can bring in anything. Feel free to reach out to us directly if you have a special use case or need.
